Browser scripts to enhance UD

I'll use the forums move as an excuse to give our script selection a much needed overhaul...
Here is a compiled list of some of the more useful browser extensions, add-ons and scripts to make UD more accessible/comfortable/awesome, along with descriptions and instructions.
1.) BROWSER ADD-ONS TO RUN SCRIPTS
1.1.) Firefox:
addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/748
Firefox with Greasemonkey is what I personally use and what the scripts listed here have been tested with. Other browsers should have no problem with those scripts, but you might be out of luck occassionally.
1.2.) Safari:
d.hatena.ne.jp/os0x/20100612/1276330696
1.3.) Chrome:
Chrome has native support for userscripts, so no add-ons are required.
1.4.) Internet Explorer
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greasemonkey#Equivalents_for_other_browsers
There are a few add-ons like Trixie or IE7Pro, but they generally perform poorly and create many errors in running user-scripts. I'd strongly recommend to use one of the above browsers instead.
2.) GREASEMONKEY SCRIPTS
I'll order them roughly in order of usefulness, from most to least useful:
2.1.) UD Refresh Button
wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/User:Midianian/Userscripts#UDRB
Adds a refresh button to the action buttons, which allows you to refresh the page without such workarounds as visiting a profile and revisiting the map, or clicking into the URL bar and hitting return.
2.2.) UD Building State Colourizer
wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/User:Aichon/Userscripts#UD_Building_State_Colorizer
Colorizes and highlights the vital building info (cades, ruined/ransacked, unlit/empty genny/lit).
2.3.) UDInventory
userscripts.org/scripts/show/41864
Sorts and organizes the inventory to make it more accessible at one glance.
There are many other scripts for that purpose, if you don't like the exact way how this one organizes. But it's the one I stick with, so it's the one that I link.
2.4.) UD Map Links
wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/User:Aichon/Userscripts#UD_Map_Links
Creates a direct link to the wiki suburb map and the DSS suburb map above the in-game map.
2.5.) chud
wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/User:Aichon/Userscripts#chud
Creates a list of injured survivors under the mini map, with the most wounded on top. Very useful in crowded safehouses when you want to quickly identify the easiest kill/drag.
As a bonus, you get attack/heal/drag buttons to quickly tackle the wounded.
2.6.) UD A-GPS Coordinates
wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/User:Aichon/Userscripts#UD_A-GPS_Coordinates
Shows GPS coordinates of your current location, which is handy for navigation and giving away the position in the hotspots thread (especially with non-descript locations as "a factory" or "a warehouse").
However, it replaces an existing in-game item at no encumbrance cost. Some might consider this as an unfair advantage. (Personally, I don't, as GPS coordinates can be found out easily by looking at the wiki maps - this script just makes the process much easier, and is also more convenient than the in-game GPS unit as the coordinates are always shown right above the map, rather than semi-hidden in the inventory.)
2.7.) Urban Dead Attack Links
userscripts.org/scripts/show/140112
Written by yours truly, this script adds attack links (pistol, shotgun, knife, axe, tennis racket, maul, teeth) next to each character's name. The benefit: Once the attack link is in your adress bar, you only need to refresh the page with F5 to attack the same target repeatedly.
2.8.) UrbanDead BiggerSpeechBox
userscripts.org/scripts/show/35289
Makes the speech box larger. Highly useful if you are as chatty as me in the game, but doesn't hurt either if you aren't.
2.9.) Modified Scent Map Numbers
userscripts.org/scripts/show/53456
Turns the colours when using Scent Death into more accessible numbers of zombies and bodies. A must-have if you use that skill at all.
2.10.) UD Victim Link
wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/User:Aichon/Userscripts#UD_Victim_Link
Shows a link to query the UD Profile Data Base with the victim's name when one is killed, rather than show it just as plain text. Sadly only works with killed survivors, as zombie victim names aren't shown by UD.
2.A.) Other Scripts
There are many other scripts out there. Some do completely different stuff than the ones mentioned here. Some do the same (especially for common things as refreshing or inventory organization), but might do so in a way you like better.
Here are some of the better collections of UD scripts if you want to fool around yourself a bit:
- userscripts.org/tags/urbandead
- wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/User:Aichon/Userscripts
- wiki.urbandead.com/index.php/External_Links#Greasemonkey_Scripts
3.) TOYS TO AVOID
While most toys are useful or at least harmless, there are a few malicious ones that should be avoided at all costs. For that reason, they purposefully aren't linked.
Some of the entries contain estimations of other groups, as they are deeply linked to the tools in question. All of the following estimations of other groups are just my personal opinion as an individual member, and shouldn't be confused with the "official" stance of FU as a whole, Zorinth or Bullgod.
3.1.) UDBrain
Automatically collects and compiles in-game data as building states and seen characters for the benefit of the tool's maintainers - The Dead, a.k.a. SomethingAwful.
3.2.) DEMon
Automatically collects and compiles in-game data as building states and seen characters for the benefit of DEM.
Generally, DEM and its many sub-groups are widely disliked by many legitimate groups and players, their policies and methods are even more disliked, and many PKer groups as Philosophe Knights or Creedy Guerrilla Raiders make DEM members a preferred target.
While no one can forbid you to aid or join them, you should know what you are doing.
3.3.) Taccon (also known as Tac-Comm)
Rather an interface page to play UD in than an add-on, but it should be mentioned as a toy to avoid.
There's no hard evidence yet, but it's suspected that Extinction uses this to phish passwords and to auto-map as with the two other tools above. Better to be safe than to be sorry.
Note that many members of Extinction and its sub-groups as Shadow Company link to it without naming it as Taccon, using the URLs http://uzm-urbandead(DOT)com/ or http://uzm-urbandead(DOT)com/Extinction. (Both links are purposefully destroyed to avoid accidental clicking and C&Ping).
Generally, Extinction and its sub-groups are widely seen as dubious and black-balled by many legitimate groups and players.
While no one can forbid you to aid or join them, you should know what you are doing.
